For those of you who don’t know this, a 2004 film – The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou had Bill Murray (playing the oceanographer Steve Zissou) and his team in the movie wearing the scuba dude watch. This made this dial and case type famous so much so that Vostok Amphibian scuba dude dial watch became famous as the Zissou Vostok Amphibian scuba dude watch.

The watch case measures about 39mm across the case and dial (I chose the case type 420), which suits my wrist size. It has a 2416B, 31 jewels automatic movement. An 18mm bracelet, acrylic domed crystal, threaded crown, and a rotating bezel. The watch is an engineering marvel and probably the best in class (i.e value for money and functionality) working divers watch which gives you 200m depth water resistance and lasts at least a lifetime, if not more. A good feature is that you can kick start the movement by winding it and upon full winding it keeps accurate time for 30hrs. It would have been great, if it had a quick set date function but then you can always set the date rather quickly by clocking the hours forward and backward from 8pm to 12 midnight. The cool thing is that the date changes precisely at 12 midnight.

I ordered the watch on 30th March 2016 and it arrived at my doorstep today i.e 16th April 2016 in Bangalore, India. I was lucky enough that my package passed through the hands of cus**ms without any problems (read no cus**m duty ). It came with a stamped guarantee card and instruction manual. It’s not been even a day so I am yet to check the performance of this watch but going by reviews and my experience with other Russian watches in my collection, I am confident of a happy and accurate experience. If you are looking for a divers watch and whether you can or cannot, want or don’t want to spend a lot of money then Vostok Amphibian is the watch you should be ordering.»
